15:04 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Hello Andrea |
15:04 |
Phrynne |
Hi Andrea |
15:05 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
hi |
15:05 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Hi Andrea. |
15:06 |
Kara2016 |
Smiles brightly. |
15:07 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Welcome to the weekly Oxbridge Deans' Q&A. This meeting is open to everyone (until someone proves by behavior that they don't belong here). Transcripts will be posted after the meeting (haven't mastered doing them before). |
15:07 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Phrynne, do you have anything to report? |
15:08 |
Phrynne |
Yes -- we have two new Minnesota Maple trees on campus as well as a variety of topiary animals -- dragons, flamingos, bunnies, snails, butterflies. |
15:09 |
Phrynne |
Also, I'm asking for your help with decorating for Halloween and the winter holidays |
15:10 |
Phrynne |
If you see something appropriate to Oxbridge taht you think I should know about -- freebies, cheapies, but good looking -- please put the info and a LM on a notecard and send it to me, and I will check it out |
15:10 |
Phrynne |
sorry for slowness-- lag |
15:11 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
(We'll continue the meeting down here, but Ravelli just IM'ed me that the alternate lecture hall is fixed.) |
15:11 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Yay |
15:11 |
Phrynne |
yes |
15:11 |
Gronk Seriman |
(Yay!) |
15:11 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Excellent |
15:12 |
Phrynne |
I'm thinking of skeletons, , interesting and not gross scary stuff that does not vee r into serious 'horror' mode. |
15:12 |
Phrynne |
Anyway, let me know if you see anything. |
15:12 |
Phrynne |
And that's it |
15:12 |
Phrynne |
for me |
15:13 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
ty, Phrynne. Looks at Andrea? |
15:13 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
(but which one .... ) |
15:14 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
Nothing much on my end, We gained a patron over the weekend. |
15:14 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
About it. |
15:14 |
Phrynne |
hurray for anothe rpatron! |
15:15 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
looks back at word |
15:15 |
Gronk Seriman |
That's something! |
15:15 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Yes! |
15:15 |
Kara2016 |
Smiles brightly. |
15:16 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Great. We remain, as far as I can tell, in solid financial shape. |
15:16 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Solid enough to even afford a few season plants (smiles at Phrynne). |
15:16 |
Kara2016 |
giggles. |
15:17 |
Phrynne |
As much as possible, I'm getting plants that can be changed with the seasons. |
15:17 |
Phrynne |
And even with everything we have, we still have 1406 or so free prims on Oxbridge |
15:18 |
Kara2016 |
wow! |
15:18 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Always good to have a buffer |
15:18 |
Phrynne |
(double what we used to have) |
15:18 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
That's fantastic - it's thanks to replace builds with mesh? |
15:18 |
Phrynne |
yes |
15:19 |
Kara2016 |
double wow. |
15:19 |
Phrynne |
and the increase in prim allowance from LL a few months ago |
15:19 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
I've mostly been working behind the scenes, doing some cleanup of the data in our ..... administrative action database and adding a bit to the interface. Larky had been adding to that as admin action notecards are generated, and I'm taking that on also. |
15:21 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Admin actions range from warnings about behavior to long-term bans, depending on the avatars disability to abide by rules. |
15:22 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Agatha, anything today? |
15:22 |
Agatha Macbeth |
We seem to be on schedule sir |
15:22 |
Agatha Macbeth |
May I expect something from your good self? |
15:23 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
I realized I have a coffee table I can chip in if I don't get to finishing anything larger. |
15:23 |
Agatha Macbeth |
That would be most welcome :) |
15:23 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Parson's styled with a lower shelf added. |
15:24 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Ohh nice |
15:24 |
Agatha Macbeth |
A lower shelf is always good |
15:24 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Mesh. |
15:24 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Woot |
15:24 |
Phrynne |
mmm |
15:24 |
Agatha Macbeth |
I look forward to it |
15:25 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
That's all report-wise, open for general questions and discussion. |
15:26 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Oh, one more projection, Beth C-P and Rainy are discussing a future class on mesh clothing. |
15:26 |
Kara2016 |
Fantastic! |
15:26 |
|
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) grins. |
15:26 |
Gronk Seriman |
Outstanding! |
15:27 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Just on texturing mesh... but that's a big step in the process. |
15:27 |
Phrynne |
wonderful! |
15:28 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
I was thinking the other day about how nice it would be to have a "What to do in Caledon class again. |
15:28 |
Gronk Seriman |
Could that cover texturing old system clothing, too? Or is it too different a practice? |
15:28 |
Phrynne |
That would be great, Beth! |
15:28 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Well, there are certainly some overlaps. |
15:29 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
hi star |
15:29 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
But I think both would have to be two separate classes. |
15:29 |
|
star (astarynite) takes her seat and smiles |
15:29 |
star (astarynite) |
Hi Andrea |
15:29 |
Gronk Seriman |
Ah. OK. |
15:29 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
We have new content in the poster outside (thanks to Tasha) and Phrynne canvassed Caledon not too long ago for reviving such a class. |
15:30 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Welcome, Star. |
15:30 |
star (astarynite) |
Thanks Word |
15:30 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
When I was new someone -- it may have been Miss Discovolante -- ran a class where the students put together a whole system outfit using prims and textures from the supply box. |
15:31 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Hmm, or Moonstone Eiren -- that's the creator on the textures I still have. |
15:31 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
So, we do have some content for such a "what to do class" if someone wants to run with it. |
15:32 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
If there aren't other volunteers, I'll....think about it. |
15:33 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Moonstone's an excellent creator. In the end, and it may have been a reflection of RL stress, she ended up being too abrasive of those coming in. |
15:33 |
Agatha Macbeth |
:( |
15:34 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
the class did require basic editing skills. |
15:34 |
Gronk Seriman |
As far as new classes are concerned, I would not mind if domebody stole my idea for an Avatar Show & Tell. class. |
15:34 |
Kara2016 |
I liked the sound of it gronk. |
15:34 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
On how your avatar came to be what it is? |
15:35 |
Gronk Seriman |
Yes. Tips and tricks, hints on where to get or buy, everything. |
15:35 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Hi Sandie (aka Prof. Harbour). Welcome! |
15:35 |
Sandie Harbour |
hello :) |
15:37 |
Gronk Seriman |
I have been thinking about the Show& Tell class for a long time. But thinking is not doing. |
15:37 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
I'm always willing to list to proposals and especially so from anyone with the willingness and organization and communications skills to teach. |
15:37 |
Kara2016 |
hhhmmm.. |
15:38 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
And it doesn't have to be an ongoing class, seminars are possible also. |
15:38 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Harking back to my newbie days again, someone ran a weekly SL tour class -- taking the whole class out to visit worthwhile locations. |
15:38 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
ooh, I like the seminar idea -- easier to commit to. |
15:38 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Sounds good |
15:38 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Yes, that was Aevalle. |
15:40 |
Sandie Harbour |
Maybe a sl tour with different venues. Steampunk, History... |
15:40 |
Kara2016 |
Smiles brightly. |
15:40 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Some good ideas, bubbling up. |
15:40 |
star (astarynite) |
Shopping for Freebies |
15:40 |
Kara2016 |
thats how i got started. |
15:40 |
|
star (astarynite) tries to contain herself |
15:41 |
Sandie Harbour |
Recently I have gotten into sailing. I wonder if a class could be made around that |
15:42 |
Phrynne |
Sailing is great in SL |
15:42 |
Gronk Seriman |
So is surfing. |
15:42 |
|
Gronk Seriman smiles |
15:42 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Brianna Nightly has proposed a Steampunk history class or seminar at one point. The problem comes down to having the time I think. Still, if anyone knows her well enough to nudge her. (smiles manipulatively) |
15:43 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
You can get a great little freebie dinghy that can be given out to others |
15:43 |
Sandie Harbour |
and freebie swimsuits |
15:43 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Hi Brian, Welcome. |
15:44 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
Thanks Wordsmith |
15:44 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Speaking of which, Andrea has the plunge on the far side of Oxbridge Village. |
15:44 |
star (astarynite) |
yes, I think they have on on the Blake Sea at a yacht club |
15:45 |
Sandie Harbour |
I learned on a nice freebie called the BBK |
15:45 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
there are dock walkways yes |
15:45 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Other questions, comments? |
15:45 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
under the dock house |
15:46 |
star (astarynite) |
what about tours of Caledon |
15:46 |
star (astarynite) |
history, etc |
15:46 |
Gronk Seriman |
There's always the Quest. A self-guided tour. |
15:47 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
The Quest is still one of the best ways to tour Caledon and get a real feel for it |
15:47 |
star (astarynite) |
yes |
15:47 |
Kara2016 |
and a great way too learn about hunts. |
15:47 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Particularly if one should encounter a certain turkey. |
15:47 |
|
star (astarynite) nods |
15:47 |
Kara2016 |
laughing. |
15:47 |
Phrynne |
Or unicorn |
15:48 |
Phrynne |
My Little Unicorn can be fierce |
15:48 |
Sandie Harbour |
I love unicorns |
15:48 |
Sandie Harbour |
they taste lick chicken! |
15:48 |
Sandie Harbour |
like* |
15:48 |
Phrynne |
this one pushes you into lava |
15:48 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
and likely gets its point across. |
15:48 |
star (astarynite) |
I have not seen it Phrynne, where is it |
15:48 |
Phrynne |
or cavorite flames. It's in Wellsian |
15:49 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
ooh |
15:49 |
|
star (astarynite) grins |
15:49 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
does everything taste like chicken, or does chicken taste like everything? |
15:50 |
Phrynne |
Everything tastes like dinosaur with feathers. |
15:50 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
:) |
15:50 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
just curious |
15:51 |
lovejoy2199 |
A featherless bipod. |
15:52 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Other questions? |
15:53 |
Gronk Seriman |
Is there any idea what happened to the Upper Lecture Hall? |
15:53 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
An unplanned floor delete, now repaired by Ravelli. |
15:54 |
Gronk Seriman |
Ah. |
15:54 |
Agatha Macbeth |
>.< |
15:54 |
star (astarynite) |
I like having the Q&A down her, there is always the chance of people dropping in |
15:54 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
I didn't do it |
15:54 |
|
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) chuckles. "I've fallen through the air so many times doing that. But not in the lecture hall." |
15:54 |
Phrynne |
The floor lost a fight with an antiquated pumpkin. |
15:54 |
star (astarynite) |
lol |
15:55 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Hope the elephant's still there |
15:55 |
lovejoy2199 |
Yes. But the ride was nice. |
15:55 |
Gronk Seriman |
That's either a mighty pumpkin or a fragile floor. |
15:55 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Oh, the elephant I have endless copies of. |
15:55 |
Agatha Macbeth |
Yay |
15:56 |
|
star (astarynite) grins |
15:56 |
|
star (astarynite) reconsiders pulling hers out, he runs people over |
15:56 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
I wasn't sure what the status of replacing or fixing the lecture hall would be. |
15:57 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
I smell peanuts |
15:57 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Ravelli's the only one who can relink parts on it. |
15:58 |
|
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) takes out the popcorn |
15:58 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
The worst case scenario would be that I'd have to recreate it from scratch. |
15:58 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
So, I am more than relieved not to have to go there. |
15:59 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
I think I have made a friend |
15:59 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Anything else? |
15:59 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
cheshire elephant |
15:59 |
Sandie Harbour |
Carl Sagan said it you want to make apple pie from scratch, you must first create the universe |
16:00 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
it's a gggggggghost! |
16:00 |
star (astarynite) |
lol |
16:00 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
There's a lot of truth to that Sandie. |
16:00 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
a rhost? |
16:00 |
Brian (mannadrop) |
gee shagy, don't be so melodramatic |
16:01 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
So, the hour's gone by and, in whatever position, we are adjourned. |
16:01 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
waves by |
16:01 |
Sandie Harbour |
bye |
16:01 |
Beth Cooper-Pentewyn (beth.pentewyn) |
Thank you all! |
16:01 |
Andrea Jones (andreajonesms) |
tyf for coming |
16:01 |
star (astarynite) |
have a good day |
16:01 |
Wordsmith Jarvinen |
Thank you all for coming and participating. |
16:01 |
Gronk Seriman |
Thank you Deans! |
