| 15:13 | Carl Metropolitan | The mainland are the major continents owned directly by Linden Lab. |

| 15:14 | Carl Metropolitan | The best thing I can tell you, is to go to sims that you like and start doing "About Parcel" on each plot of land, looking for abandoned parcels. |
| 15:14 | Carl Metropolitan | Land for sale shows up in the map if you activate that layer, but abandoned land does not. |

| 15:15 | Lia (tokyorii) | If you have premium, You can usually go to your options on the Second Life dashboard and Click Claim land or the "Buy Land" Tab. [You can only buy land that has been set for sale; not land that has been abandoned.] |

| 15:16 | Carl Metropolitan | If the land is shown as abandoned, then you can put in a trouble ticket to LL and get it set to sale to you if you want it. |
| 15:17 | Carl Metropolitan | If it is shown as owned; all you can do is drop IMs or notecards on the owner. |
| 15:17 | Roxy (th3bl4ckf0xy) | Oh okay, so no easy way to find a good place other than to pay ridiculous prices or look for hours. |

| 15:18 | Carl Metropolitan | It should not take hours. Narrow down what sort of sim you want to be in. Then find sims like that by asking or looking on the map. |

| 15:18 | Carl Metropolitan | One note: parcels can sometimes be abandoned even when there is stuff on them. |

| 15:21 | Carl Metropolitan | One thing that people often do when the land about them is ugly is to buy empty and, put up a "skydome" way up high in the sky (like 2000 meters) and build there and route all teleports to that spot. |

| 15:21 | Carl Metropolitan | Could you buy your land there and use some of your prims to put adult related stuff in a skybox? |
| 15:23 | Roxy (th3bl4ckf0xy) | Is that allowed? But still, I'd only go for a pre-built house if it's on a Victorian style plot, as I do like that style and the houses don't cost any land impact. So I don't think it's worth it for me to put a skybox there. |
